Introduction:
Below are samples of students' portfolio writing assignments. These assignments were for a writing intensive introductory chemistry course (Chemistry 108) during the spring semester, 1999 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Included are samples from the students' weekly assignments (Connections, On The Web, and Consider This), and their reflective activities.

The weekly assignments table has been reproduced below. Next to the 42 possible choices is the word "Sample" to designate that a sample writing assignment is available to view. Note that the student writing samples are from different students' portfolios and hence, do not reflect a single "complete" portfolio.
